What is Head & Neck Cancer?
Head & Neck cancer typically refers to cancers of the upper aerodigestive tract (nose, mouth, throat), salivary glands (parotid, submandibular, minor salivary glands), and endocrine glands (thyroid, parathyroid glands). We also take care of patients with benign masses of these structures, skin cancer or less common tumors of the nerves or bones of the head or neck region.
What Services Do We Provide?
While we are primarily a surgical group and perform full spectrum of Head & Neck cancer resections and reconstructions, we pride ourselves on providing overall cancer management for our patients with Head & Neck cancer. Within our group we are trained as both Head & Neck Surgeons and also as Plastic Surgeons which allows us to evaluate and explain your treatment options (surgical or otherwise) as well as your reconstructive options at the same visit. As part of our group we also have two Speech Pathologists who are always available to lend their skills in helping us diagnose new problems or manage issues with speech or swallowing that may arise after treatment.
Many patients we see do not need surgery- we work very closely with Medical Oncologists (doctors who deliver chemotherapy) and Radiation Oncologists (doctors who deliver radiation) should your problem require these treatments. We communicate with our partners in Medical and Radiation Oncology frequently and will not only help you get in to see then quickly and efficiently, but we will always follow you and help manage your cancer over the long term. If you allow, you will be our patient for life.
