While no website can replace an in-person consultation with a qualified physician, we hope that you will find that this site provides some basic background for many of the Head & Neck and Plastic Surgery problems we treat, and that it helps to lay a foundation of knowledge prior to your consultation. We take great pride in spending time with our patients to ensure they understand their condition and treatment options (both surgical and non-surgical).

Meet Dr. Burke
Dr. Burke was born and raised in the Buffalo, NY area. After graduating from Canisius College (Buffalo, NY) with a dual degree in Biology and Psychology he went on to attend The State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Following medical school, he completed residency in General Surgery at SUNY Buffalo (Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery.) Dr. Burke then completed a Fellowship in the surgical management of Head and Neck Cancer at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo NY (member of the American Head & Neck Society). After Head & Neck training, he then completed an additional residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Summa Health System in Akron, OH (Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery).

Dr. Burke and his family were excited to have the opportunity to move back to Buffalo when he initially took a position at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in the Department of Head & Neck and Plastic Surgery. After one year at Roswell Park, Dr. Burke and several of his partners subsequently moved their practice to it’s current location at the Erie County Medical Center (Buffalo, NY), where they started the Department of Head & Neck and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Burke has academic appointments at the University at Buffalo’s Department of Surgery as well as the Department of Otolaryngology.

We understand that life goes on even when patients have a medical problem, and we will work hard to take into account other priorities you may have in your life such as family, work, or social issues. Our broad scope of training and experience has prepared our physicians, nurse parctitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and staff to consider these other factors and to care for you with compassion and respect.

About Us
|
We offer a wide range of surgical services for patients with Head & Neck tumors (benign or malignant), as well patients with complex Plastic Surgery needs. Our office is located in a brand new, state-of-the-art building on the Erie County Medical Center campus in Buffalo, NY, We work hand-in-hand with our partners in Dental Oncology and Maxillofacial Prosthetics who are located right down the hall. They provide oral cavity cancer screening and dental care for Head & Neck cancer patients, as well as design and make prosthetics to help reconstruct the teeth, mouth or facial structures. We also work very closely with Medical and Radiation Oncology services. We proudly serve the patients of Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse, NY, as well as Erie and the rest of Northwestern Pennsylvania.
In addition to managing Head & Neck cancer and reconstruction, we care for patients with defects from the treatment of other forms of cancer, trauma, or burns. You are not defined by your disease. Our practice has a passion for addressing complex surgical problems and helping people move beyond their disease or disfigurement to focus on long-term recovery and getting them back to their lives.
